Hello Gordon and Kath, Can I add my welcome to the Cree Family History Network? It's great to see members joining and getting stuck in straight away exchanging information. I look after the sister site to this one, the Cree Surname web site www cree.name and have taken the genealogy information you have given here and added it to the Cree Genealogy Database. Please have a look, perhaps starting at your common ancestor Robert Cree at www.cree.name/person.htm?id=8418. If you haven't already done so, you should also click on Robert father's name and so on back through the generations of all your common ancestors. You may find some surprises amongst them. If you have any further data to add please let me know, either here or via the Contact Section of cree.name. Best Wishes to you both! Mike Spathaky, Cree One-Name Study.
Hello Gordon, Thanks for your message. I can fill in a few gaps for you regarding my gt grandmother Flora Cree. She married James Caldow in 1894 and a daughter Flora was born in April 1895 (my grandmother) James Caldow died in Nov of that year from a accident on the railway. My grandmother worked a munitions factory during the war, this is where she met her future husband Tom Foreman. He was an engineer and came from Stamford, Lincs. They married in Greenock in 1917 and had 2 children Kathleen, and my father James. Flora died when my father was 6 weeks old and he was passed to another member of the family to be looked after. Its said to think that both my gt grandfather and my grandmother both died whilst in their twenties.
As for the Court family, the only one I know anything about is Elizabeth Jennie Court born 1909 in Troon. She married Cuthbert Henderson and had 2 daughters one of which died in infancy. Elizabeth died in Buffalo, Erie in 1995.
My father told me that his grandmother used to write to him and had invited him to go over to America once the war had ended, sadly Flora died before then so he never got to see her.
Robert Cree and Diana Brown had 6 children, David Calderwood Cree b 1884
Janet b 1886
Robert Clemie b 1888
Archibald b 1890
James b 1892
Henry 1895
Robert Clemie Cree married Mary Elizabeth Findlay in Kilmarnock in 1912
I don't know anything about any of the other children.
I had a message from Trevor |Cree to say that we are connected through Robert Cree and Flora Young. My Gt grandmother was Flora Stewart Cree; I knew she had two older sisters, but knew nothing about her brothers. I will be interested to hear more about them.
