Hi Mike,
I just had a look at the back of the picture and it says Henry & Hannah
Granny & Grandfather Cree. I can't remember who told me it was there wedding day but it does not say that on
the back of the picture so it must not have been there wedding day.I must ask my Aunt when i see her on Sunday she will know as they are her Grandparents and she has a good memory. Will let you know what she says. Helen
I would like to query whether this really is Henry and Hannah on their wedding day in 1889. Leonard suggests that the cap badge is of the Royal Ulster Rifles (but it's probably the Royal Irish Rifles at that date). There is as far as I know, no record of Henry Cree being in the army. His wedding certificate says he was a bricklayer. A bride on her wedding day would surely display her left hand not her right. May I respectfully suggest (as an outsider to the family) that this is a photograph of a young man with his mother and that it might be Jane McQuoid with her son Henry Greer Cree. We know Henry G Cree was a Riflemen in the Royal Irish Rifles and died in France in 1914. (See my very recent update of his person details with a moving letter to his mother from a Frenchwoman at www.cree.name/person.htm?id=7444.) I have made a number of updates to the Cree On-line Genealogy Database on the www.cree.name website.
Best Wishes,
Mike
Hi Helen they are my great grandparents. Their son William Lee Cree was my dads dad. Just wondering if any of the other photos could be relatives , that are marked don't know?
Kath Sutton ( was Cree )
Hi Leonard,
I knew who the henry & hannah were as they are my great grandfather & great grandmother.
My cousin Pat from Australia sent me the pictures she did not know who they were either as there is
nothing written on the back of them. But thank you for having a look.
Best wishes Helen
i can not see it up close but the cap badge looks like the royal ulster rifles.
