Cree Line

Hi all,

we are descended from the Riccarton Cree’s,

Susan Heron Cree was my 2x Great Grandmother (born Riccarton 1879)

daughter of Robert Shaw Cree (born Riccarton 1856)

son of James Cree (born Riccarton abt. 1826)

son of Archibald Cree (born Glasgow 1797)

son of David Crie (born Glasgow 1771)

son of John Crie (born Tibbermore 1735)

son of Hugh Crie (born Methven 1696)

son of John Crie (born Methven 1662)

son of William Crie (born Perth 1641)

son of Patrick Crie (born Perth 1615),

Son of William Crie, Burgess of Perth

The Cree’s of Riccarton lived mainly on Old Street and New Street surrounding the church, and I am lucky enough to still live in the same area and attend the same church they would have attended.  The church itself was built in 1823, with its predecessor sitting where the current cemetery sits, made famous by Robert Burns; the minister, Rvd James Moodie, was mentioned in several of his poems.

Most of the buildings on Old and New Street have been replaced including all the homes of my relatives much to my dismay! My grandfather, Peter Doran, was born in his Granny Cree’s house on New Street though this is now where the Glacier Metal works sits.

Would love to connect with people from the same Cree line, especially Riccarton Cree’s.

Donna,

Welcome to the Cree Family History Network. Thank you for providing your Riccarton ancestry that originates from Susan Heron Cree, the daughter of Robert Shaw Cree. I have located Old and New Street and although the area has certainly changed it is reassuring that you still live close by and attend the same church as previous Cree families. We would certainly welcome further contact from any Cree families that still live in the Ayr, Kilmarnock and Riccarton areas,

Trevor.
