Greatly appreciate your response. Yeah, fantastic, exactly why I really want to get everything in line and matched up :-).

In regards to the picture I think this is very possible to who this would be. On the back it says William and Mary Cree (Gill). This would tie in well. It would be great to link this all up and potentially find their church of marriage, what they worked as, where they lived and their gravesides of course. I appreciate that this will all take time but it would be a fantastic way of looking back with each piece being put together. I will certainly upload the picture.

Neal,

The fact that you have taken a family history DNA test should really help you understand more about both your Connor and Cree origins. As you know your paternal line (Connor) should help you match up with a lot of male individuals on the Ancestry DNA database with the Connor surname and that will help you make some direct family connections that you might not have known about.

I am not knowledgeable on maternal DNA but I guess that it will help you trace your Cree mother's mother's mother's mother etc. who will clearly have changing surnames as you go back in time. Mike is the expert on DNA.

From a Cree point of view I guess what would be very helpful would be if you could provide the names of your mother's Cree father and mother, and perhaps your Cree Great Grandfather's name and that of his wife. That should allow us to connect into the Cree information that we have for Lisburn and the surrounding areas such as Bangor, Newtownards etc. Sam Cree was a very popular playwright.

Not quite sure if your uncle is a Cree or a Connor but the fact that he has an old photograph of a William and Mary Cree is very fortunate indeed. We have a William Cree (Cree ID 9457) who married a Mary Harriet Gill on the 12th August 1870 in Lisburn and the initial assumption is that this may be your William and Mary? William Cree died on the 3rd April 1922. It would seem that they only had one son and a daughter and the son's name was George Cree (1871-1945) who married Mary McNeill. However this may not be the correct connection and so the information that you have on your Cree grandfather and his wife is important. You are welcome to upload the photograph of William and Mary Cree if you wish and that might help in making the connections.

Look forward to hearing about your progress.

Trevor.
